Pondering Songbird

Girl Power has always been the theme of most female artists especially girl groups. I think it was the spice girls who popularized the concept of girl power through their music and videos. No wonder girl groups like the Pussycat Dolls also made their versions. The song “I Don't Need a Man” sends a message that a woman does not need a man to feel complete.

To make me feel complete
So let me break it down
I can get off when you ain't around

The lyrics may have some sexual connotation but that really depends as to how one would interpret it. A ring does not make a woman complete. If it does, why do couples split up? There are other things that women could derive fulfillment from.

Modern women are career driven and they know what they want. Gone are the days wherein women wait for men to give them something precious. Today, they could buy anything they want. There is more to dating than giving gifts. The one thing that is important is the commitment that both parties have to make it work. Women are now more liberated and they make the choices which they think are good for them. Who needs jerks when you have girl friends to hang out with?
